Loki's Prints

Linocuts

Linocut was invented at the very beginning of the 20th century to provide an easier alternative to wood engraving.

This is a relief print technique : the printed parts are the parts preserved during the engraving process.

Loki Gwynbleidd's linocuts are produced on special gum and printed on a flatbed press.

The handmade process produces a result that varies slightly from print to print. And the small inking defects add to the charm of this technique.

Paper

Linocuts are produced on white (220g/m²), natural/ecru (250g/m²) or black (185g/m²) art paper; and on kraft paper or waste paper (salvaged from old books).

Ink

The prints are printed in black, vermilion, viridian and white oil inks.
